I just got back from recording all day at Mix-O-Lydian Studio. Jeff and Scott worked all day Saturday, and John, Andrew and I joined them today. We got a shitload of tracks finished this weekend. Jeff did most of the major guitar tracks, and we were able to finish lead and background vocals on most of Sunday. I am listening to rough mixes now of the songs we worked on this weekend, and this album is going to sound much much better than anything we’ve ever done before. The difference spending a little money at the right studio makes is eye opening. I don’t think we’ll ever go back to recording in someone’s basement. The sounds on this record are just way beyond my own expactations, and the arrangements of the songs has grown as we tinker with ideas in the studio. It is nice to record on the weekends and then have a week to let everything settle in, and then get back to work on more tracks. We have nearly completed recording…we should only have one or two more days of overdubs, and then we can begin mixing. That is where the real magic happens, and i can’t wait to see what other tricks Don has up his sleeve. I just can’t even believe how good the rough, raw tracks sound. To think that the finished product is going to be even better makes me so happy. i feel like we are finally making an album to be very proud of. The time is coming in only a few months where we can release it into the world and elecit a reaction.
